Temple Bar, "a London Magazine for Town and Country Readers" operated from 1860 to 1906.  It was initially edited be George Sala. As one of the leading literary magazines of its time, it published works from such authors as Jane Austin, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Arthur Conan Doyle
