TIES is the name for The Southern Railway System Magazine. Thier logo was The Southern Serves The South. TIES was published in Washington D.C. from early 1947 to 1982 when the Southern Railway merged with the Norfolk & Western Railway. Later Norfolk gave permission to The Southern Railway Historical Association to carry the name and logo in a train railroad historical magazine publication. Editors to the magazine included Ernest E. Norris and B.E.Young.
